Course Description

It’s aimed at anyone who’s new to teaching or those in need of a refresher or looking to boost their confidence.

It will help you gain the teaching and workshop leadership skills needed to deliver effective sessions to your delegates over the duration of the course.

It will help you best use your subject expertise whilst developing your teaching skills so that you can support your delegates in achieving above and beyond what your course description promises.

On this course you will learn how to:

  • organise your course
  • plan engaging lesson content
  • teach your subject effectively
  • manage your time
  • manage the expectations of delegates
  • engage and motivate delegates through classroom and homework activities
  • understand the needs of your delegates and know how best to support them
  • communicate and celebrate your skills and experience
  • inspire your delegates to think big
  • understand and manage classroom behaviours.

What will I gain?

You will leave with the skills required to teach short courses.

Attendees will be coming from a variety of disciplines which will add to the diversity of this course.

Whilst the course will not deliver subject-specific knowledge, there will be an opportunity to practice your teaching skills and gain feedback from fellow tutors in order to enable you to feel fully prepared.

'Meeting other tutors and observing their presentation style was great, and I feel like I have built a useful network of other tutors now. The tutor is engaging, approachable and has lots of information to help me, she's a great tutor for the role. Thank you!' AF

'This workshop has been inspiring. The tutor is a very motivational speaker and it has been so valuable. Totally enjoyed the interactive parts and engagement with other tutors. I have also learned a lot from other tutors.'
