Kit In A Kase is a innovative electronic teaching tool suitable for use in KS1 through to KS3.

The Body – KS2

 

Target age range: Years 3 and 4.

 

Length of activity: Approximately 1 hour.

 

Learning outcomes: Pupils will learn about the basic structure of the human body. They will look at the skeleton and learn about muscles and major organs. They will also investigate the mechanisms involved in movement and simulate the function of the kidneys.

 

Talk with slideshow: This interactive presentation will explain the structure of the human body. It will look at the major bones and muscles and link this to movement. It will also identify the major organs and their functions.

 

Hands-on experiments: Throughout the talk, the pupils will take part in activities to support the ideas discussed. They will build a model of Sid the Skeleton, identifying the major bones. They will then build a model joint, simulating the action of the muscles during movement. Finally, they will complete an experiment on filtering and link this to the function of the kidneys. There is also an activity sheet to complete throughout the session.
