Course Description

This course is suitable for beginner learners of Arabic with some knowledge of the language, equivalent to stage 1 (for example GCSE grade B or C).

As the course book for this stage, we currently use the second half of Mastering Arabic Book 1 and Activity Book 1.

During the course you’ll learn about life in the Middle East and how to talk about your holidays, travel and climate.

At the end of the course, you’ll have deepened your appreciation of Arabic grammar and structures at an elementary level and you’ll be able to make comparisons, and talk about recent and past events.

We also offer Arabic stage 1- 2 Accelerated. This course is suitable for heritage speakers of Arabic and speakers of Arabic-influenced languages who have some prior experience of learning the language. You need to come to the registration session to find out if this stage is right for you. This can't be booked online.

Please note: You can only enrol (to a stage higher than stage 1) using this online store if you’ve already successfully passed the preceding ULP Arabic stage i.e. ULP Arabic stage 1 in order to enrol into ULP Arabic stage 2, or ULP Arabic stage 3 in order to enrol into ULP Arabic stage 4.

If you developed your knowledge of Arabic outside the University Language Programme, you’ll need to come to the ULP registration session and see the language specialist before you can enrol.
