  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Writing
  • Vocabulary
  • Speaking and pronunciation
  • Grammar

You will discuss and practise various elements of reading, writing and speaking in English. You will discuss topics together in groups, and reflect together on how well you have done and what you can improve.

In the afternoons, you will undertake English lessons that relate to your special area of interest. This will be interactive, looking at case studies and where possible visiting places of interest to give you the opportunity to practice what you’ve learnt.

You can choose from:

Business: improve your understanding of business, marketing and finance terminology, and develop confidence in report and presentation skills

Culture and creativity: explore the art, architecture, design and heritage industries, and exchange idea about how you want to play your part

Information technology: learn terminology related to computing, programming and web design that can add valuable skills to your CV

Science and engineering: study the vocabulary of recording test results, writing case studies and communicating design specifications

You will work in groups on a project relating to your area of interest. You will present this at the end of the course as both a poster and an oral presentation, and receive feedback on your work from the teacher.

You will also have the opportunity to develop a CV/resumé that reflects your English skills and knowledge of industry.

To attend this course you must be aged over 18 and have an IELTS (or equivalent) score of at least 4.0.

Tutors will be experts from the Nottingham Language Centre at Nottingham Trent University.
