Course Description

Through a series of practical workshops and critical seminars you'll explore both physical and digital art processes.

The course is ideal for people with basic drawing skills who are interested in developing professional skills in concept art.

It's also an excellent opportunity for illustrators who wish to investigate their role in the game production process, and game designers who are looking to focus solely on 2D visualisation skills.

On this course you will:

  • use a combination of collage, hand drawing and digital techniques
  • be taken through the process of developing characters and environments in response to a written brief
  • undertake visual research
  • explore thumbnailing, perspective, figure construction, character turnarounds and key scenes.

What will I gain?

At the end of the course you will have a range of work for your portfolio including development sketches and finished images.

Tutor profile: Jez Noond has worked professionally as a 3D modeller and digital designer.

Originally a fine art graduate, he worked as a sculptor producing gallery and public space work.

An interest in computer aided design led to his involvement in numerous projects making novel use of games software including the reconstruction of crime scenes and industrial accidents for the courtroom, and the reconstruction of ancient temples.

He has taught concept art and all aspect of games design and development for many years.
