This course focuses on the process of image-making in the game design industry. The course is hands-on and taught in a series of practical workshops and group sessions.

Course Description

This course is ideal if you are considering a future in game design, animation or creative media.

During this course you will:

  • Investigate the role of concept artist in the game production process
  • Develop your 2D and 3D visualisation skills
  • Use a combination of hand drawing and digital techniques
  • Develop characters and environments in response to a project brief.

What will you gain?

At the end of the course you will have a range of work for your portfolio including development sketches and finished images.

Tutor biography: Rob Szczerba is an experienced animation practitioner and MA researcher at Nottingham Trent University. He teaches Media, Film and English at Sheffield College, with seven years’ experience as a Head of Department, contributing to the Television Film and Visual Effects programme.

Since February 2016, Rob has lectured part-time at NTU in 3D modelling, animation practice and history. His teaching is informed by freelance industry experience as an artist working in the early computer games industry and 3D character design for commercial software. He’s highly proficient in 2D and 3D applications such as Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects and is currently working on an animated 3D film project.
