This course has dual aims. Firstly, it'll develop your knowledge of the UK construction sector and the strategies which can be adopted by clients to successfully procure projects.

Secondly, it'll develop your ability to interpret the needs of different clients and identify strategies, apply tools and develop techniques to support implementation.

Course Description

On this course you will learn how to define a project and its performance indicators. You will learn about design-related issues, value management, cost forecasting and project timings.

This course will include:

  • how to develop a strategic brief
  • the selection of a procurement strategy
  • funding and client resources
  • managing the project, and project closure, post project review and benchmarking techniques.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • evaluate solutions to complex problems relating to the procurement of construction works
  • demonstrate a critical understanding of the relative merits of various approaches
  • evaluate a broad range of factors impacting on the context within which procurement decisions are made.

A CPD certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Successful completion can also contribute 15 credits towards a PGDip or MSc award.
