This course will help you develop knowledge and understanding of legislation and legal principles relevant to the work of chartered surveyors and professional advisers working in real estate.

Course Description

The course will examine the design and construction of different industry standard forms of contract, and how to assess the most appropriate ways for dealing with disputes.

You'll develop a critical awareness of current case law and how to apply it correctly to arguments surrounding the use of contracts.

This course will include:

  • control mechanisms
  • payment
  • variations and changes
  • contractors’ claims
  • the contractor’s liability for design
  • collateral warranties and third party rights
  • dispute resolution

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • make logical recommendations
  • generate new ideas, innovations or solutions to problems
  • communicate information, ideas and concepts effectively in an articulate fashion.

A CPD certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Successful completion can also contribute 15 credits towards a PGDip or MSc award.
