Course Description

The course is specifically designed for civil and structural engineers.

It welcomes early career and experienced civil/structural engineers who have little or no experience using the software.

However, the content is also suitable for anyone wanting to become a competent user of Revit and familiar with BIM concepts.

On this course you will:

  • learn how to use Revit to create models
  • be introduced to BIM and develop 3D modelling
  • work on a collaborative BIM project
  • discuss BIM strategies in construction projects and make recommendations on their applications
  • produce engineering solutions for building using 3D models
  • produce professional visualisations for building models.

The course is mainly practical, however you will be introduced to the fundamental concepts underpinning the philosophy behind BIM.

What will I gain?

Upon the completion of this course you will be able to complement your CV with knowledge in BIM and Revit skills.

These are both in high demand in engineering industries.

Tutor profile: Dr Roland Kromanis is a lecturer at NTU who has been using Revit for more than six years within the industry and academy.

He's modelled many pre-fabricated timber houses and steel frame structures using Revit, and managed pre-fabricated timber house projects promoting collaboration between manufacturing, design, and construction teams.

These timber houses were built in many European countries, mainly Sweden, France and Switzerland.

Roland is currently leading undergraduate and postgraduate modules and delivering AutoCAD and Revit to Civil Engineering students.
