Project Cost payments for NTU students that have been accepted to volunteer abroad with Think Pacific, Fiji 

Dates: 14th June - 15th July 2017

The Project Costs: £2,100

Volunteer Role: Each day volunteers organise small group lessons, offer classroom support, lead early education projects and offer crucial one-to-one support. Afternoons are spent delivering sports and youth projects, including creating PE lessons, developing netball and rugby coaching, introducing new sports and fun games and activities and leading youth initiatives such as art, drama, dance, public speaking and debating, all culminating in school ‘House Cup’ and interschool youth and sports competitions for the students.

This includes:
• Return flight to Fiji
• Accommodation, food and local travel in Fiji, plus accommodation for briefing and debriefing
• Airport transfers in the UK & Fiji
• Travel Insurance
• NTU volunteering t-shirt & hoody

What isn’t included:
• Sulu/Dress bought in country - £30

Project Cost payments for NTU students that have been accepted to volunteer abroad with Education For The Children, Guatemala.

Dates: 16th June – 7th July 2017

The Project Costs: £1,400

Education for the Children Foundation (EFTC) exists to help some of the poorest children in Central America off the streets and into the classroom, providing a positive alternative to a life of begging.
Volunteers will work alongside local teachers and school staff to assist with classroom support, helping to run after school clubs by sharing your skills. For example, playing guitar, sports coaching, singing, sharing IT skills or drama lessons and working alongside the local community with skilled tradesmen on roofing repairs or similar.

This includes:
• Return flight to Guatemala
• Accommodation (7 days a week) & food (5 days a week)
• Airport transport in the UK and Guatemala
• Spanish lessons in UK and Guatemala
• Travel Insurance
• NTU volunteering t-shirt & hoody

What isn’t included:
• Spending money/optional free time activities/weekend food £400

Dates:  5th August – 12th August 2017

The Project Costs: £750

Little John's House is a fully integrated specialist children's home in Romania which caters for a full range of social, health and educational needs for a small group of children with disabilities. The home is staffed by trained Romanian helpers with the medical advice of a Health Care professional.

Volunteer Role:
• Organising a programme of fun and exciting activities.
• Helping children to interact socially.
• Getting children involved in experimental play.
• Helping children with observational learning.

This includes:
• Return flight to Romania
• Accommodation and food for the week
• Airport transfers in the UK & Romania
• Travel Insurance
• NTU volunteering t-shirt & hoody

What isn’t included:

Dates: 16th June – 12th July 2017 

The Project Costs: £1,300

The Rosie May Home offers an opportunity to get involved in a charity managed from Nottinghamshire, but running a children’s home in Sri Lanka aiming to empower girls through education.

Volunteer Roles:
• Facilitating English language development through volunteer led activities
• Sharing your skills in the home and classroom (for example, playing guitar, sports
coaching, singing, sharing IT skills, drama lessons etc.)
• Sports, arts and IT skills while working in the Rosie May Home under the supervision
of local staff, the preschool and local school.

This includes:
• Return flights to Sri Lanka
• Airport transfers in the UK & Sri Lanka
• Accommodation (7 days a week) and food (5 days a week)

Dates: 19th August – 15th September 2017

The Project Costs: £1,200

East African Playgrounds (EAP) aims to change the lives of children across East Africa by building playgrounds, developing school environments and facilities. Working alongside local communities they create play spaces, refurbish schools, provide arts and play programs to both students and teachers. What makes the project so special is seeing an empty space transformed into a fun, vibrant and safe playground in one month.

Volunteer role:
• Working alongside the local community
• Building the playground in the mornings
• Assisting with arts and play programmes in the afternoon
